I agree - I had to remind myself of the fact that Shiyi is about 17/18 in this drama - probably has zero idea of marital relations given the time period and honestly it isn't surprising that she is not falling onto the bed into Xu LingYi's arms (crazy I know!). I think we have to consider as well the Luo family as we know Shiyi was not put into the Xu household for her own happiness but for her nephew's and therefore ShiYi needs to consider what would Madam Luo do. Honestly even for a smart cookie there is alot to be scared/anxious of and her mind is telling her it is safer to keep her distance and her heart is saying what are all these strange feelings I am having for Xu LingYi.

Me too - I am really not interested in the subplots at all - I know I should be but I just love the romance between Shiyi and Lingyi which outshines the rest of the story.

I agree with everything you have said. It is a historical drama with a love story and should be watched in that context. Historically XLY would have had a wife and concubines and it would be utterly unbelievable for him to not have had either or to have not slept with them and produced children - not when you have a mother badgering you to continue the family name. I'm surpirsed he doesn't have more given the few number of children he does have!
