Agree about Grandmaster. I do think the actor is doing a good job but I still don't get why it was necessary for…
Yeah. They now look like brothers instead of father and son. But the actor is kinda cute though.

You can bring this complain to the special thread that I made: Novel and Donghua fans Sanctuary, where we hold…
Can you give me a link? I badly need to vent some anger.

They could not keep Tang San's origin because China ban transmigration in dramas. Censorship really handicaps…
Thank you for telling me this. This explains a lot about the changes in his personality. But I agree that they should have at least do their best to preserve Tang San’s personality. At this point, his character is really bland and common.

We really don't know what you guys are saying. Right now we are watching the drama as it is.
Aren’t novel and donghua fans allowed to express their disappointment? We are all entitled with our own opinions. In the first place, this adaptation used the novel and donghua’s popularity to rack in viewers. And as one of those viewers, why am I not allowed to say my dissatisfaction? You people continue to watch. We’re not really forcing you to drop it. But don’t prevent us from speaking up and discussing its mediocrity.

For me, twisting the plot to make it more in line with the Chinese culture doesn’t really bother me much (like their clothes, setting, etc.) because Soul Land in a way has very rich western magical elements (like the castle like settings). It will be very hard to recreate it in live action without using a lot of funds so I understand their call to downplay it.

But what I’m especially annoyed about is how the way they removed the plot about Tang San’s origin with him being from another world. That was one of the most important key plot to explain his personality (calm, rational, and very smart to the point of being a genius) and one of his drive to get stronger and reestablish the glory of Tang Sect. Also, that was why he had other skills like the purple demon eye.

But they removed it and created a Tang San with a common protagonist personality being super kind and naive to the point of being annoying. I really wanted to strangle their Tang San when he tried to open that fucking electric cage. Like WHY ARE YOU BEING STUPID? Tang San was supposed to be mature and level headed but their Tang San reeks of impulsiveness and stupidness. Really, what a fucking way to ruin the drama. The Tang San in the drama really is that fucking annoying emotional character that creates so much trouble because he’s so fucking stupid and it annoys me to death!

Also, where is my imposing and smart Grandmaster? Why is he being fucking bullied to the point of being in a cage? Another, Xiao Wu was the boss of Nuoding School but you reduced her to being in a cage! Why is Tang San so emotional? He was supposed to be able to kill without battling an eye! But you put a scene of him releasing cute bunnies like ahhh! Where’s my cool, smart, level-headed Tang San? NO ONE IN SHREK ALLOWS THEMSELVES TO BE BULLIED!

I dropped the drama at this point and I’m struggling to pick it up again. I was initially excited for this one because it’s Xiao Zhan and I’ve been supporting him since the Untamed. The trailer was so good and I was satisfied with the effects. But they fucking ruined the plot. There’s nothing really wrong with the actors but the story is really disappointing, especially to novel readers or animation watchers.
