But don't get me wrong. In a sense, CZ is worse in the novel. He always knew what his master was doing and helped him. But it was all calculated so that he could use it to his advantage at some point. In fact, he ends up killing him with his own hands.

Yes, HY treated him like a friend. But she never really trusted him. Because at the end of the day, they belonged to two different factions, so forget about asking him for help.

So, he knew that HY would never leave XJ for him.
