The ending was so sad but I think if the CP didn't died, the emperor would always suspect CP and there would be never ending a father hurting his son. CP's life is very sad.

I feel bad that Ning's biological mother show her love to Hui only. I'll call a bullshit if she said that she loved and worried for Ning but her only respond was rebuking Ning from time to time. She even didn't make any effort to have a mother and daughter bonding
