Yeah the emperor is a female in the novel but here the emperors role is played by an actress you can see her in cast list in guest section but they changed the gender of the char. otherwise as far as I remember in the novel fan Xian had 4 wife's waner, li li, Haitang Duo Duo nd the empress. About ruo ruo no she just have a brother complex I think 😂 full devotion towards him
