I'm a bit confused. I started watching a couple of days ago. There's the episode where it shows a flashback and he sees the enrollment for college and it has 2017 as a date. Then the picture in episode 14 (14:03) says 2017. Is it set in 2017?

Have you seen the American series Leverage? If so and you liked that show then you'll love this.
Noah Wyle was also in The Librarians staring Christian Kane as well. They were both directed by Dean Devlin. The original cast is all there apart from Nate played by Timothy Hutton due to allegations. Noah's character is probably replacing him.
