just did an it feels like a downgrade sadly. ep1 was a 8.5 but ep2 lowered to 7.5 ㅜ ㅜ i hope they make things more intresting in later eps coz rn the topics they exploring on kinda boring imo :/
unpopularopinion...but this drama is kinda overrated, not insanely overrated but just a little overrated I went in with high expectations but the whole story kinda felt boring, the CGI was bad camera was weirdly shaky idk what they were trying to achieve with that but it made me dizzy. ep1 was almost entirely boring the final 10mins was pretty good. I feel like the drama lacks intensity the choice of music/bgm too wasn't the best imo. all in all it was a bit underwhelming I'm disappointed that the drama didn't achieve my expectations TT but hopefully it gets better later on. Well first let me ask you 2 things have you heard of this thing called taste and have you also heard of this thing called opinions. Okay now that's out of the way lemme teach u what death games r supposed to be like;- They should contain blood, gore, they should be sadistic, suspenseful, mysterious, disturbing, traumatizing, thrilling and every act of the film should be morally fucked up.
and here's what google says about how psychological should look like... Psychological often contain elements of terror like dread and fear, or elements of horror like trauma and shock. The fear and anxiety experienced by the characters can drive the psychological tension in unpredictable ways, often surprising the reader with twists or different angles on the same problem
in all these aspects ATGW surpassed squid game. And NO this is not a subjective question its an objective one and everyone will and must agree on the fact ATGW was better at just being psychological (I'm strictly speaking about the part of the movie being fucked up here and not plot-wise surpassing squid)
you see what sets squid game apart from other great psychological's is the fact that it was so underwhelming not sadistic, wasn't gory, no element of suspense or thrill, environments were never set well enough to properly propel the drama, this can be achieved by setting the right BGM, sound effects, giving it a proper buildup in order to create fear and uncertainty, maintaining a high tension within the story, better and more creative/sadistic games, they could have been more sadistic with the games( like ATGW). all these that I stated are either not done or done very poorly by the drama.
tl;dr: the drama failed is in creating the proper scenarios leading to the events, They lacked so many crucial elements needed in a genre like this, they either executed it very poorly or didn't even bother to incorporate those elements.
unpopularopinion but... this drama sucks, this may differ from person to person but for a heavy psychological watcher for me who loves fucked up stuff like alice in borderland, as the gods will battle royale etc this is sooo mild of a drama they keep ruining the vibe with the quirky music. The build-up during the games was also bad they never set the right environment for it to properly feel suspenseful they just had to mix comedy into this and I think we all know psychologicals don't mix well with comedy.
so in short if ure not new to phycological u prolly will not enjoy this and if u are new u may find it to be a nice watch. (this is just the general opinions of ppl I've observed so it may differ from u )

I personally felt like the judge had a grudge against the chinese trainee and just wanted to degrade them and made comments that make no sense that did not seem to match her past comments. There was soo much good stuff to comment on that performance she just had to make them look bad. which is very controversial.
