I cannot pass judgement on Snowdrop but can understand the reasoning for the outrage and relate to the feelings behind it. It reminds me of the sentiment and sensitivity that many Australians have towards people who have tried to justify the stolen generation. These things hurt so many people, and I don't think it is ever right to justify oppressors for entertainment, even if it is only fiction.

I just don't get these k-netizens. Something that hasn't been premiered yet but see criticisms. Aren't you guys…
As an international fan, when I went to Seoul I visited as many museums as I could. The War History museum and national history museum left more of a profound effect on me. Even seeing the palaces bare due to looting and the burnings during the imperial occupation. So much LOSS. So Not all of us feel that way, tbh I couldn't help but cry over the photos displayed and the aftermath of many of those historical events. Koreans have a beautiful and rich history but there is a lot of pain, grief, and strife so outsiders need to view it with those things in mind. If you aren't Korean you should NOT get to comment on how they should feel towards those events.

You mean jtbc should satisfy their ego??? Apparently jtbc have given their clarification on the matter...what…
I absolutely understand that distorting history even in a fictional setting can be very dangerous. I'm Polish and recently there's been a terrifying wave of people distorting the events of WW2 and trying to rewrite history by making the victims perpetrators. It's honestly heartbreaking how easily people can be influenced by prettily told false narrative. I watched 1987 and it was horrific event that happened v_v

The funniest thing is, Koreans want to show and promote their culture overseas (be it through k-pop or k-dramas…
from knetz:
" This drama is a total distortion of history. They're wrong the wrong hats, they have the wrong architecture... if they're not going to reflect actual history, why not just turn it into a fictional world? Why use the names of actual figures and cause this confusion? Do not mess with King Sejong who is great king not a loser in this drama. This is what people are saying."

I know , they are happy with this small victory but they can't see the bigger lose later , it's funny some people…
damn that is some hate.. there is reasons to be cancelled JE for writing what joseon times were based on western, that sejong is stupid like wow, that will create hate. Should of mentioned fiction with letting know what they do. Snow drop is true picture and controversy for putting each character as north korean, aka spy while it is opposite just adults, teenager gathered up and death by government. That is quite new history to be touched.. well at least River Where the Moon Rises is being praised man. The writers should do similar stuff and not use real real characters, not do entire wrong history/background by real real characters. People are would be loving it, move on

Here are what I agree on comments,
For JE,
" This drama is a total distortion of history. They're wrong the wrong hats, they have the wrong architecture... if they're not going to reflect actual history, why not just turn it into a fictional world? Why use the names of actual figures and cause this confusion? Do not mess with King Sejong who is great king not a loser in this drama. This is what people are saying."

For snow drop,
"First, historically, numerous student protestors were falsely accused of being 'spies', tortured and murdered. Please clarify whether the male lead of this drama is a real 'spy', and if viewers may misinterpret this 'spy' as a real student protestor.

Second, we demand a lengthy explanation as to whether or not the storyline contains any narratives beautifying and humanizing the identity of this male lead who is a spy.

Third, historically, the National Intelligence Service is known to have ruthlessly tortured student protestors. Please clarify if the story contains narratives beautifying and humanizing the members of this organization, if the story contains romantic relationships with members of this organization, as well as why one character who is a National Intelligence Service officer was described as 'a justice-driven, passionate, and straightforward' person.

Fourth, the names used for the male and female lead characters, surname 'Lim' and given name 'Young Cho', are names of real historical student protestors, and there is concern that this drama may defame their characters. We demand direct feedback regarding this concern.

Fifth, the location 'Hosu Women's University' where the storyline takes place is inspired by a real university which was a central location of the student democracy movement. There is concern that the narrative in which a female student hides a male protestor in a women's dormitory distorts and damages the democracy movement.

Lastly, we demand proper feedback addressing each of the concerns listed above not only through the internal perspectives of the staff involved in this drama, but also through consultations with experts in the history of this time period.

We believe that under no circumstances can the meaning and the history of the nation's democracy movement be distorted or corrupted in any manner, and we urge the production staff of JTBC's 'Snow Drop' to release a proper statement, followed by serious consideration of the drama's cancellation.""

Not just this drama, there others upcoming Korean dramas that mentioned by Knetzs.https://twitter.com/kdramacasting/status/1375088890004992001From…
Copying and Pasting: Im seeing more reasons for this drama to be against Chun Doo Hwan than to be for his ideology. The actors, all have parents that were probably students in the 80's. And used real names of victims who got brutally tortured and died. The screenwriter herself was a university student at the time of the protests, and it's possible that she knew people in the protest, or was even part of the protest. Calling them spies aren't ok. This is similar to massacre in China

Just admit you are not reading it properly but bash. The reason for Joseon Exoricst, it is having a real historic figures and putting them as weak, and mocking King Sejong. It was intended
