They set the setting of Snowdrop at this specific time, using what is going on at that point in the character backgrounds, knowing what it means to the Korean populace. It would be like the Boston Bombing or one of the numerous shootings here in the US being made into a show where all the injuries are “plants”. It’s bullshit and not okay. Fiction is fiction, but you are using real life events, with characters with the same name as real life people from that event and that should be treated with respect.
If you are korean you will understand or live in asia. Japan is affected by so many as well. In this drama, because the storyline is a spiritual fantasy story set in a real historical setting and using real historical royal family figures but putting evil spirits into the story, people got mad because it impugned the legacy of those historical figures. Why not use fake figures?
