No use asking, no one knows. So far it's a rumour and there have been many in the past with no airing drama at the end of it. This time the rumour is a bit more persistbut, but it still depends on the whims of a dictator and his lackeys.
I don't necessarily want every drama to be a romance, but I love the ones where it's not the main course but an added ingredient, kind of like good seasoning in cooking. If done properly, it can enrich any drama.

Look, it all depends how sensitive you are to undercurrents. Officially nothing happens between them, there are no kisses or romantic declarations of love. But underneath the bromance is a lot of longing, the eyes say it all. I guess you could see what you want to see and ignore what you don't.
They is something there, but we don't know where it's going yet. At this point it's more like bromance with a bit of a buzz, there is nothing in the script beyond banter, but the fact that they took two good looking young actors to play the leads give it an extra hinted something.

Either way, something is going on there. We know there are new leaks, so SOMEONE is trying to do SOMETHING. We just don't know who it is or what the outcome will be. But there is definitely some movement there, especially when you look at the whole Chinese BL world and what happened with The Spirealm or the Chines novels being adapted in Taiwan. I hope it will be enough to change things. 🙏

It's not just money, there are rules and regulations for everything. You forget that every company is under CCP control. They can't just do what they want to earn money like in a democracy. They have to get permission for everything.
