From the casting, I think The Glory is on par with Blossom A+ budget. Because usually S/S+ productions use traffic or more popular lead actors and actresses. But still, this is a major drama category.

Which studios that you meant? The studio who produce this drama? Please don't generalize all studios in one place. Every dramas got their own production teams, their own stories, and their own situations/considerations. Ofc the production results are different for every productions.
Because many studios produced their dramas right, good, and well executed. They picked most of their stories from existing sources/materials and the results are still good. For example Blossom, Story of Kunning Palace, The Double, Love Like The Galaxy, Joy of Life, Nirvana in Fire, Ashes of Love, Love & Redemption, Lost You Forever, Flourished Peony, Blossoms in Adversity, Love of The Divine Tree, Kill Me Love Me, One & Only, Are You The One, The Rise of Ning, etc many more. Those dramas are very great in final results and popularity. There is many more great costume dramas that i haven't mentioned because it will takes more pages to write. Modern dramas adaptations are also so good like Hidden Love, The First Frost, The Best Thing, You Are My Glory, and etc many more.
Some of them changed the stories because of censorship. For example Kill Me Love Me. Because it's too extreme if they want to go with original materials. But the way they changed the elements are still so good for story. The ML is still a red flag but not as black flag as the novel did.
But I also know there is always original sources fans who feel dissatisfied about the adaptations no matter how perfect these studios adapted the novel/donghua/manhua/game into dramas.

Xing Fei as Lu An Ran in "Lost Track of Time" (Rebirth/Reborn themed drama) was so cold and strategic. She basically showed no mercy to her enemies. I think that what's Jiang Si supposed to be in this drama.
I also love Bai Lu as Jiang Xue Ning in "Story of Kunning Palace" and Meng Zi Yi as Dou Zhao in "Blossom". They were so strategic and had good planning for the future. Even though they were not as cold as Xing Fei character in "Lost Track of Time", but they were strong, firm, steady, mature, and decisive in their actions. I can see their best portrayal in both of their characters.
Until now, i haven't connected with Jing Tian as Jiang Si yet. She is so soft and innocent like you said. Ppl said it's already 10 eps but they are still confused about the past events.
When I watched Rebirth/Reborn dramas like Story of Kunning Palace, Blossom, The Princess Royal, Lost Track Of Time, I really understand the past events and present times directly in early episodes. The pace of stories and events are also faster and more exciting. So I have more connections with the characters and stories.
The Double is also about the 2nd chance in life (with another identity) but Wu Jin Yan's portrayal of Xue Fang Fei was so strong, smart, and decisive. She also showed no mercy to her enemies.
I think you mean he doesn't do idol dramas. And he shouldn't as he's a true actor. He picks the best script quality…

And many of them got good stories and productions. Even Joy of Life is actually still Idol Period Costume dramas. There is time travel element + fantasy in the drama. It was based on fictional dynasty with eccentric emperor and princes. ZRY also did idol fantasy period costume dramas back then. The first season of Novoland with Guan Xiaotong. It was so successful that Chinese company keep producing another season and spin-off from Novoland.
Also, don't forget about Sword Snow Stride. It's Wuxia Fantasy Idol dramas.

LBFAD was belong to iQiyi. Tencent only buy the license to air it together. So basically it's not Tencent drama.
Also LBFAD is 2023 drama not 2022. So, it's true that Tencent only can air one major drama in one time.
Both of them are the unexpected Dark Horse.
Blossom was also a major drama on December 6th. After that, Guardian of The Dafeng (S+ Production) took its airing slot on December 28th.
