No. It's all subjective matters. There are so many GREAT Period Costume dramas, including 2025. Many people also enjoy so many Costume dramas in 2025. So I fully disagree with your sentence about period dramas. All of costume dramas are about mix genres including war, palace politics, romance, revenge, etc and most of them indeed female centric dramas. You like male centric dramas which is fine but it's all subjective matters. No need to add words like lacking or something. In the opposites, I found so many great costume/period dramas in all years, including 2025. For example Love Like The Galaxy, Story of Kunning Palace, The Double, The Glory, Legend of The Female General, Blossom, The Prisoner of Beauty, Kill Me Love Me, A Dream Within A Dream, Fated Hearts, Coroner's Diary, etc many more.

I just wanna say that AvenueX slaughtered Vendetta of An so badly in her 5 drama recaps. She said that this drama is a copy of Nirvana in Fire with many mistakes (btw she is a die hard fan of NIF). She also slaughtered Cheng Yi acting and his line delivery. She wanted someone to dub Cheng Yi entirely 😅 Some people come to defend VOA and Cheng Yi in the comment sections.

She also said negative reviews about Speed & Love and Silent Tides as well. So it's not Cheng Yi alone.

Yes i know Vendetta of An is Male centric drama. But who knows they will add romance elements + kissing scenes just like other male centric dramas such as Legend of Zang Hai, Dashing Youth, and Guardian of The Dafeng? Even The Blood of Youth also had romance.
