I think it's quite clear about The 2nd/3rd character roles ending (Zhang Zhe, Yan Lin, Princess). I already explained all of them in previous comment. No, SOKP is definitely much better. From bigger budget, production designs, characters development, costumes and make up, until actors performance.
The palace politics in SOKP is more complex, briliant, serious, and exciting. And they stated the ending of side characters well. Maybe you should rewatch SOKP once again. Zhang Zhe (2nd ML), he assisted the young emperor in government and fix the laws for better future. It was clearly stated in the ending + conversations. 3rd ML Yan Lin was back to the capital with his father and they already cleared Yan Family name from rebellion accusations with Xie Wei's plan. The Princess cancelled her marriage with another kingdom prince and she returned to the palace.
Xie Wei and Jiang Xue Ning got married. They had adorable twins. Xie Wei acted as prime minister for young emperor. So the ending is crystal clear!

Yes, there are some Chinese actors or actresses who need to improve their acting quality and etc. But i disagree with your words about Chinese dramas haven't reached other countries level of quality. You are wrong about this. Chinese dramas are very excellent in Costume dramas (Historical dramas, Wuxia dramas, Xianxia dramas, and etc) from beginning until now. It's their best specialty. They also have improved the dramas quality significantly from 2018 until now. You can see the cinema worthy and visually pleasing cinematography with beautiful camera works in most of Chinese costume dramas. The sets and costumes + production designs are very grand, beautiful, and well executed.
Sorry to say, but even Korean still can't reach the same high quality productions of Chinese costume dramas with big budgets.
You should watch more Costume dramas besides Tan Song Yun works. There are so many great Chinese costume dramas with grand/high quality.
