If you want a Shin Haesun drama with flawed ML and FL, watch Thirty but Seventeen.
For this one, the writer did us all dirty including the actors.

people can't even understand how a tv station can make decisions solely based on ML's word. move the show to noon. give the segment to eunho. shoot it in a day instead so you don't stay overnight. keep eunho's spot in the show. like who is he, the son of the tv station owner? how is this good writing?
worse yet how the characters are written and how mental illness is relegated to a plot device.

dear producers, please don't waste your money making these kinds of plot and shitty writing. don't waste audience's valuable time. it's so disrespectful to the audience. anybody who tries to justify this writing don't value their time.

Pansori is not a popular form of theater for international fans. Since it's the main aspect of the show, it's best not to expect it to get as much attention as let's say "Love Next Door" or "Judge From Hell". What more, this is not set in modern (recent) times. The GL subtext in the drama might also push others away. Jeongnyeon doesn't have the usual drama tropes that easily gets attention from the get-go. D+ knows this too coz they don't seem to spend marketing money on it for the international audience.

That said, it's up to us viewers who enjoy it to recommend it to others to get more people to watch it. I'm totally enjoying it but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I think it was after Episode 8 that someone here commented "the writer must hate eunho". It wasn't enough that she was broken enough to develop DID but she was broken time and again to barely function as Eunho by Episode 9. We had to watch Eunho get broken in many ways for weeks, but are asked to hope for growth and healing within two episodes. And not just for her but also for Hyunoh.

wrapping something with an FL with DID and recent mental breakdown and ML who has abandonment issues with a narcissistic flair in 2 episodes... I'm not very hopeful it will be done in a manner that's really meaningful.
Like thanks for bringing mental health and psychological issues in the forefront, but such topics should be treated properly.

I think people who criticize those who criticize the story and characters fail to see that we are only two episodes left until the end. Flawed characters are okay but there needs to be character growth. For the writer to choose to go the route of an FL in the peak of a mental breakdown get back together with an emotionally stunted ML at this point is disappointing. Logical? Happens in real life? Yes. But we didn't spend hours watching the FL be thrown down by life only to see her go back to a relationship with someone who's less than emotionally available.

Stop criticizing us for failing to understand the writer because romanticizing this kind of relationship is not something we're down with in 2024. We like healthy relationships. Leading up to emotional stability towards the end of the drama. Especially since this is marketed as a healing drama.

If the end of Ep10 happened middle part of the drama, there would be enough time for the healing to happen somehow. But 2 episodes left, it failed us.

alter-Hyeri is the college-kid Hyeri in Eunho's mind who sees the joy in the little things but will act on her impulses (kiss a guy she likes or make the company president kneel after hearing what he did). It's really easy to like her more than the problematic Eunho which is why alter-Hyeri came to be.
Some people think she's "infantilized" but that's how Eunho saw her not a 28-yo. Also you can notice how different alter-Hyeri is from the highly introverted real-Hyeri.

i hope this isn't how the writer will get eunho to meet his family. coz that's just an insincere way for him opening up about his family situation if he's "forced into it" due to circumstances versus a clear decision on his part to open up.

so if a guy is bad but not the worst, we should be okay with it? we should be okay coupling a FL in the middle of a mental breakdown with a bad ML? because he's not the worst?

no. it's because the writer decided to put them back together before they resolve (or already in the middle of resolving) their psychological traumas. them getting back together now doesn't make us the audience feel like they'll heal together

We are disappointed that there was supposedly healing, but we're down to the last week with no healing in sight.
yes, it happens in real life. too much to actually find enjoyment to watch a drama about it as if romanticizing this kind of relationship.
we're not looking for a fairy tale, but if the writer wants us to accept this turn of events as healing, i'm not down for that.

think about it. it's like watching people around you get into bad relationships that break their mental health then they get back together. how can you just sit back and not be unhappy about it?

how i cheered when she rejected him in the rain like 'yeah girl, time to work on yourself first'. but then here we are with only 2 eps to go.

Because by Episode 10, audience realizes there most likely won't have a good payoff after watching the FL mental health crumble week on week. That we suffered with the FL but in the end, she "needs" a man to get her mental health in check. And unfortunately, the man hasn't been written to make audience root for him in a relationship. It's like watching two people not good for each other suddenly getting back together. That is where the disappointment comes from.

what stupid "beauty standard" are you talking about?!? we don't like the ML character because at his emotional stage, he is not fit for an emotionally healthy relationship with the FL. Even if it's the likes of Lee Minho or Lee Dongwook taking this role, the way the character is written and where the story is going, it's not surprising to get a backlash. It's 2024.

it's not him breaking up with her that's the problem. in fact, they should have broken up given they weren't communicating well - her who kept asking for affirmation of his love, him who didn't tell her of his responsibilities with the grannies.
but he didn't tell her why for 8 years together. that lack of communication lead eunho to spiral out of control when she heard he's getting married because for her he didn't want to marry her, not marriage per se. who wants a ML in this day and age who can't communicate?

you nailed it. we have not been convinced enough that HO-EH together won't fall back into that cycle. we get that he's flawed and have deep wounds, but he's written too stiff. like it was nice to see him take care of EH when she was sick, then they give him a line "get sick". how are we going to like him with EH?
