If you think their journey will just straight up take them from the capital of one empire to the capital of the enemy empire, that's quite naive of you. These stories are about the journey and the encounters they get along the way that will build their characters as individuals and as a team. Then you have the FL story and agenda that's parallel to the ongoings of the delegation but has its own path that will most likely converge at the climax. I'm actually enjoying each part and character of this story. Nothing draggy to me because it all contributes to the whole complex story weaving and my attachment to the characters of this series.

So giving access to family members may not be as surprising as it would be for us non-koreans.
