I actually like the romance bit and don't find it detrimental to the plot or pacing. Their love for each other grew in time that felt natural while they are figuring out things. What you call "exposition dump" isn't like they didn't show us bits of it. They use it to tie everything up and make viewers understand what's going on. If you read the theories here, you'd know that if they don't do that, some people didn't get those details in the first place. The part with the ZJ and LZ really is in the second half of the story that if they introduced it too early would spoil things. We're discovering almost at the same pace as YLX and CD. That's the way it's written. This is a romance adventure story, not simply an adventure story that happens to have romance in it. You can't take away YLX and CD love because it is what makes YLX not the same YLX from the Pass and it is also what will define their decisions.

ML and FL are soooooo in love with insane chemistry and honest mature conversations. SML likes FL but FL doesn't feel the same way but they're childhood friends. SFL for now seems to like SML. SFL is the villain since this is an adventure fantasy and she seems very smart and strategic but not a good person - the kind of stuff that makes good villains.
Be aware that the first few episodes are character introduction and world building. So it can feel like it starts slow, but when that's done it just keeps getting more exciting.
