I don't get what the big deal is about this show. It's just like any other survival game movie, TV show or anime that we've all seen in the past decade or so. If anything, I'd recommend you go watch The Exam (2009) on YouTube and see how many elements SG copied from it.
1. How did Gene know his father was gay? This was never shown or discussed before 2. Why did Gene's dad say it's okay he (the dad) doesn't love his wife (Gene's mom)? Was it a mistranslation? 3. Why did Gene and Sib break off electronic communication (phone, text, Skype) during their "breakup" period? Even the TV station said they're okay with a secret relationship. 4. Why add those random Disney shots at the end of the series?
The show would have been marvellous if not for the overacting of the actor who played Harutan + Harutan's overexaggerated homophobic reactions to his two courters
Hugs ... hand-holding ... loving gazes ... statements about being soulmates ... love poetry ...But really, it's…
You're right. That's exactly why I avoid all Chinese gay "romances" I'm not interested in either queer baiting nor romances being downplayed as bromances, something that fangirls insist are romantic bc of conveniently subjective subtext. Sorry, that isn't for me.
I'll give the series a go but I'm not in any rush to do so.

Thanks but if their relationship is not made clear whether it's a bromance or a romance, I'd rather not watch it. "Subtext" is not my thing, especially when it's used as an excuse to subdue gay romances just for being gay.
I need an advice: between this and The Untamed which one should I watch first?
A word of advice - there's no romance in MDZS. Their relationship is shown as a bromance. There's no hidden romance angle. Don't believe blind fans who see meaning where there is none.
Is this like MDZS where you only see a bromance? I don't want to waste my time watching a show where two men in love don't even fucking hug in the end, leave along declare their undying love for each other (clearly, not vaguely)
I loathe selfish trash like Nagisa. Just bc you're a gay man suffering from society's prejudice does NOT mean you can break an innocent boy's heart, fool a girl into marrying you and then be a whore who cheats on his wife. Screw him, he ruined 3 lives. He deserved no happiness.
