but they never promised romance! the story was about the two of them, not necessarily together. the ending was better than I imagined.

I have to agree with you! this was my first Chinese drama and I found the protagonist's expressions quite weak. she shocked, sad and making drama is the same face. this is my only criticism, because the rest I found incredible.. especially the protagonist!
