I really miss Alchemy of Souls and the entire cast. Every time I hear the OST "Scars leave beautiful trace" I get chills! One of my all time favorites!
Interesting plot. I like how the 1st season was mostly build up for the actual climate and setting the whole story up for Miho to regain her powers. What I didn't like is how they killed off the fiance of the best friend of Miho and the brother of Johan. It showcases a level of writing which can come of as very predictable and not well developed. Johan's brother could have been saved. There was no need for the other to get killed off just so Miho could start taking serious action to regain her powers. These element for me really impact the quality of writing and the drama itself in a negative way. Would have really liked it if the 1st season would end right when Johan's possessed brother attacks Miho, which awakens her powers and shines the light. That a would be an amazing cliffhanger. I am hoping season 2 will have a lot more action and actually team up Van, Johan and Miho against the evil forces.
so I am a little confused at the end. Did Naksu return to her old body basically. What happened to Jin BuYeon/…
As far as I understood, it was all the plan of Jin Seol Ran all along. She had lived in the body of Jin Buyeon since Lady Jin had been pregnant with Jin Buyeon, so in a sense being reborn. Jin Seol Ran was able to see the future and knew that the Firebird would be awaken, all because of the Ice Stone, as it was her mission to protect it. After Jang Uk battled the Firebird and ended the chaos, Jin Seol Ran left the body of Buyeon, as her mission was completed, thus leaving Naksu in this body. Since Naksu's soul lives in it, the body took the appearance of Naksu while still having Buyeon/Jin Seol Ran's divine powers.
I will write a longer review later on but I would like to take a moment to say Thank you to everyone who produced, wrote and made Alchemy of Souls into a TV Series. Thank you to all the actors for their outstanding skills. Lee Jae Wook, Go Yoon Jung, Jung So Min, Hwang Min Hyun, Seo Yul, Shin Seung Ho, Yoo Joon Sang, Oh Na Ra and everyone else included. This was a wizarding masterpiece. Finally we got a happy ending from the Hong Sisters.
As someone who grew up watching Harry Potter, the ost "Scars leave beautiful trace" will always give me a feeling like I am back in the wizarding world. Alchemy of Souls was also a wizarding world so thank you for giving me these wizardry feelings that I hadn't found in other kdramas.
Yesss :D thank you for the details. Now I will enter the episode with a happy mindset. Can't wait to watch it but at the same time I don't want it to end.
Here we go. I can't believe this is the last and final episode. I don't even know with what ideas to enter the episode but let's hope for smth good and happy.
Crazy. All I have to say is that Episode 9 was crazy. And let's admit that Jin Mu just had the best character/plot development. Him using the Alchemy of Souls it's crazy but showcases a truly menacing villain.
I don't know how to feel yet about the series as a whole. All I know is that Episode 10 is going to be a huge hit or miss situation. The point where the entire series stand right now is very tricky, so I hope Hong sisters will execute it in a way so we receive a logical and happy ending for Jang Uk, Naksu, Jin Buyeon and everyone who is on their side.
And I can't believe how the King and all the members of the Union supported Jin Mu.
Episode 3 and 4 bring more quality in plot than the first two episodes. I wish they would exclude all the unnecessary comedy and those "slice of life" scenes and make it dark and action instead. Maybe those details were used to reflect the normal life of Won Mi Ho as someone who doesn't remember anything related to her fate and powers.
Cha Eun Woo is back in a role that I didn't expect to fit him so well. Kim Nam Gil is just as cool. Lee Da Hee is also quite great but I hope that we get more action scenes from her.
In my perspective, from the way episode 4 was executed and how it ended, it looks like the 1st Season will serve as character development for Won Mi Ho, focusing on her recollecting her memories and powers and they will join forces as the trio in the 2nd Season.
So far it looks quite great, I just hope that the final two episodes and especially season 2 will be darker and involve a lot more action.
Can't wait for the final two episodes to air and yet I can't believe this is ending. Hoping for a 3rd season. The acting of LJW and GYJ is top notch. And let's not forget about the incredible Jung So Min, who I am hoping will appear in one of the final episodes.
I’m starting to think Jin Buyeon soul is not dead but I have no idea what is really happening. Where will Naksu…
Agree with the first part of your comment. That is what makes me think that Mu-deok Jin Bu Yeon is still somewhere. How that can be possible, now that I have no clue but I would love to see it happen. I kinda want a 3rd season already.
