That was a big episode. But i must say. This show is definitely the drama of the year. Its incredibly new in korean television and after soooo many kdramas finding something sooo different and new is really a refreshing and exquisite experience. I am undoubtedly taking some time to connect with this show and its grey characters but cannot stop watching.
The show follows this "never seen before" experience fabulously. A show filled with so many genres, so many characters and so many sub plots is very rare in korean television. Queen of tears is here to set a benchmark.
Mainly this is an offbeat romcom.
Never in my dreams heard about this disease called Cloud Cytoma which Haein inherits. Its such a cold and psychologically disturbing tumour. Like she is some scifi show's character who keep switching between multiple time frames. Her condition is really upsetting.
Baek Hyun Woo's character is very new and interesting in romcom space. He wants her to die but fear to lose her every moment. Very real. As humans we deal with multiple emotions. And he is dealing with his own dilemmas.
But both of them are non pitiable. Both are grey and self centering. Nice lol.
Hong family is very hilarious but filled with secrets. Haein's mom lost her son due to Haein thats a shocker. So thats why she dont like Haein and Haein behaves so arrogant towards everyone. She didnt received motherly love and affection.
Beomja is funniest chaotic character. Her presence itself oozes out rib tickling comedy.
Eun Seung looks like a sharp negative character who will unveil his shades slowly and gradually. And Mo Seul Hee is probably the main antagonist, that foreshadowing baduk scene was enough to present her intentions. She want everything EVERYTHING !!
Final scene was outstanding.
Overall the show is just fantabulously exhilerating. The chemistry between KSH and KJW is also great. Both are too funny. Very excited for next week to see whats store in for us in QOT.
I must say one thing. After watching ep1 i actually felt like i watched something new in romcom kdramas after a long time. This show is definitely going to be an iconic show.
1st episode felt like watching an indian tv serial with a very high budget in korean background honestly. Joint family, dysfunctional main leads, lots of family drama etc. IYKYK.
But it was definitely a good introductory episode. Mesmerising cinematography, soulful osts, pleasing as well as quirky background music, marvellous set design, great acting on top. But not the best first epi.
What a beautiful slow burn melancholic thriller !! Ep3 was beautiful. I loved scenes of Soohyun and SeonYool, Soohyun and Suho's reunion. The whole cinematic experience of this episode was too good with that action scene.
