This is probably one of the least offensive versions of this kind of romance since the feelings were never officially reciprocated and the master died. Also, this is involving supporting characters even though the FL had a similar relationship with her master, but FL is closer in age so that isn’t an issue. However, the series hasn’t ended yet so I can’t say what the end will be like.
