I haven't read the webtoon but I saw people saying is one of the best adaptations
I only watched 5 eps so far but it kinda stays faithful to the webtoon but it also don't if that makes sense lol. They changed how some things happened but the main story seems to be the same so far.

I don't know if she's muslim . You are right on that Uyghur is an ethnicity and Islam is a religion. But Uyghur's are muslim in general. I have no idea how are they nowadays after the ccp's policies on the region all these years.
