I’ve been seeing that the voice of female lead is annoying but when you really analyze and go through every episodes, oh the voice really fits her character.
I cannot blame you guys, maybe you are used to western dramas. I’ve watch a lot of cdrama, they really prefer high-pitch voices especially for cute roles. If a female lead usually have lower register, they get dubbed, aside from budget reasons and mandarin annunciation and pronunciation. That’s usually the standard for romcom in cdramas. In weibo and douban, she got praise for her cute acting and voice so it’s really about what standard you are used to.
What I love about Chuli is that she has this powerful female persona despite her cute looks and voice. Breaking the stereotype of what should a strong female lead should look like. I personally think it’s okay to have that cute voice or act cute even if you’re past 20 especially if you have that natural voice. I believe cuteness can be your personality too and there’s nothing wrong embracing that. Cuteness have nothing to do with immaturity (this is what people usually see). If you watch the show, you will see how she defends herself and stand in what she believes in her own cute ways and ALSO THE LIGHT OF ZHOU CHUAN.
