Title If I Love a Boy Spoiler
It made me think that it was deliberately placed there :) it was a symbolic motive. Since the gold fish has the…
The goldfish are relevant to the plot. In the beginning of the episode Ball only has a single gold fish. Puri comments that the goldfish must be lonely. Puri repeated it several times that the goldfish must be lonely, but Ball said that the goldfish wasn't lonely because he was the goldfish's friend. However, Ball later came to realize that he himself was lonely and he looked for Puri for 7 days. When Ball finally found Puri it was too late because Puri had hooked up with Art; I think the mistake that Ball made was taking Puri for granted and taking a nap right in front of him. Toward the end of the episode Puri passes behind Ball, unseen, but Puri notices that Ball has bought a second gold fish. Puri smiles at the second gold fish because he realizes that Ball has come to a new realization about friendship. Finally, Puri and Art are running together playfully when they pass Ball running in the opposite direction. Puri waves to Ball, who seems to be holding a badge or medal, perhaps indicating that he did well in the race, which Puri helped him to win because he helped him with his sprained ankle. Ball privately says "thank you" to Puri for, perhaps, helping him to win the race and for showing him the value of a good friend!
