Ups and downs but hey we got there in the end!

Literally just finished ep 27 and I'm glad Part 1 ended like that.

NiaoNiao the poor girl has gone through it. She's being beaten down constantly. So many times she's in a no-win situation with the way people judge her and it just sucks. Even if people think she's a tough cookie she has a very sensitive soul.

My main issue with the show is probably the editing/pacing especially when it came to NiaoNiao and Ling Buyi. They had great scenes together but personally to me it was still lacking. As an audience member I was still mourning her having to breakup with Lou Yao like their puppy love was so precious! Ling Buyi springing up the proposal and kinda forcing it with the help of the emperor outta nowhere was frustrating so I am actually glad she fought him about that. Sir just because you like her doesn't mean you get to decide for her. So the last episode making it so she's the one who finally decides and thinks about how she truly feels was nice.

I did not want to make it a long review and say a bunch of spoilers but if anyone is reading this despite my little complaints I think you should still finish part 1 and you can decide whether or not to proceed!

A Great Beginning With an Unfortunate Downfall

Literally just finished the show a few hours ago. Finally watched this show because I like the main leads and really enjoyed the supporting actors too. If it weren't for them I would've dropped it to be honest.

I feel like it was initially supposed to be a one season show. Even before watching the show I was surprised that it was only 24 episodes and had concerns on how they'll execute it. Unfortunately them introducing so much stuff was a mistake. The last third of the episodes had so much exposition dump and characters just talking instead of properly showing made things so unsatisfying. Yes they're very interesting but this is only doable if the show was at least 40 episodes.

I loved the all the characters they introduced both good and bad guys but since they introduced so many in a short time no matter what happened to them I did not care for them as much even though the show tried to make this whole emotional/dramatic thing. There was not enough build up and it's so disappointing because I know the writers had more they wanted to show but lacked the episodes to do so.

This show was beautifully shot and the fight scenes are choreographed well . Just be warned that you aren't getting the conclusion that you hoped for.

Overcoming the Past is An Uphill Battle

The cast did a great job with this show. The first few arcs learning about each character was great and enjoyable but towards the end though the final arc had some pacing issues. Some people said they were bored with the beginning arc but imo it gave us much needed character development and world building. I wish this show had at least 5 to 10 more episodes because the developments were rushed especially for the main couple.

Our FL was in constant inner turmoil for her past life actions for good reason but I also pitied her for it because for the longest time she punished herself for it. Even when she has fixed all her past life wrongdoings she always blamed herself for it even for the stuff she had no control over. For the ML the past was just as traumatic if not more. He was forced to mature too quickly and survive through any means. It caused misunderstandings between the two of them which took a while. they both needed a lot of healing and made love a bit twisted and difficult for them two.

I know a lot of people will probably hate the ML because the other two supporting leads were such green flags. Still if you think about everything they've gone through it just shows how they are the best fit for each other as their connection and love runs the deepest. ( It also helps watching the mini episode of their wedding because they were so darn cute.) Keep an open mind when watching this drama and looking forward to watching more of these actors.

Warning: kinda red flag ML but honestly my biggest complaint is the lighting and filters at some points lol
Faves: The ost of this show and the whole cast main leads and supporting cast did a great job
