The messages behind it is loud and clear: there are others who endure the same kind of environment as these young offenders, but not everyone chose to commit crime. I'm a teacher, and I fully agree with the main lead's point of view.

I at first thought that her quote was cringey as well as I believe most young offenders have their stories in why they committed the crimes. The show goes on to explain why she has that view at the end of the series, and yet despite that view, why she is extremely fair in her judgement.

If we don't enforce harsh consequences on young offenders when they chose to make a mistake (i.e. commit crimes), then who will teach these young criminals that their actions are wrong? The show even go on to enforce the message that yes, they made a mistake, but there is nothing wrong with making mistakes and you just have to face the consequences and move on / grow up. In fact, I thought the case for episodes 4/5 were the best episodes in the show for me.
