Yes, the manhwa has no romance contrary to the webnovel. The one who drew the manhwa (not the same as the author of the novel) probably decided to remove some of the subplots and details and focused solely on the revenge plot. According to the mahnwa , he was supposed to reject Hee Ah's advances right before he went into military service, but he silently allowed it in the drama. BTW the last scene in the mahnwa was with Hee Ah and PSM, not GyuRi.

Regardless, the romance/slight harem aspect is supposed to be there along with the comedy as only a minor side-plot to create more interest fo the viewers and provide some lighthearted moments, while the main plot is the fight between him and JoTaeSub. I've heard that Lee Byung Hun (Be Melodramatic, Sunny) helped adapting the material into a script so I doubt the quality of the drama will drop in the latter half.
There was no romance tho...A riveting disappointment
First of all, the title says romantic story, not romance. Different meanings. With all due respect, in case you have not read this review in full, if you had scrolled down I said there is not much “romance” present throughout this drama, yet this drama is very romantic. This includes not only how their relationship gradually and slowly ends up developing in the healthiest way possible, but also how math is portrayed and how it relates to life, the use of symbolic objects to capture emotions or states, the portrayal of deep and hard topics in a subtle manner, how each character grows as a person, the bonds they create, etc. I understand this type of drama might not be to everyone’s taste, and that’s completely fine. Personally, this drama checked almost everything I would want in my ideal type of drama, and I rated it 10/10 because I know this is not only the type of drama I could watch multiple times in a row and it will only get better with each time, but also allows me to reflect on multiple aspects of myself and everything around me. Most of my favorite dramas besides this one (One and Only, Lost, Mr. Sunshine, Piece of Your Mind) are slow-paced and have very low amount of physical affection, so I did not mind the lack of it. In the end, it’s all up to personal preference, what might not be to one’s liking will be to others, and vice-versa. Anyways, thanks for your input and hope you'll find other dramas you enjoy more :)
