Detailed, slow paced

[I was not aware this is based on any real-life incident, and have not yet found anything solid that says this was based on real life incidents - except an article which mentions them taking "inspiration" from a real life dismemberment case]

This is not a fast-paced, adrenaline boosting thriller chase. It is slow, it has (mostly implied) gore and it drills in the brutality of the crimes in it, and the gruelling task of chasing a group of criminals who are determined to not get arrested. For YEARS. To me some parts felt slow and dragger but I think that comes as a consequence of being detailed.

The story follow a gang of kidnapper-serial killer and the approach to them is what makes it different. The story is told by following a police officer chasing them , a victim/survivor and the killers themselves. The original investigative team is shown as seriously dedicated and committed without being overtly vocal about it. The survivor has a whole arc covered - showing her life situations, how she ends up there and how she copes. And as for the gang - they are not glorified. They are shown as slippery and cunning but that's what criminals are! Unlike all the serial killer oppas with "aura" and "charisma" they are shown as is- evil.
To me it feels utmost neutral, there is no attempt to make you sympathise with the killers yet they show they "bleaching" (Chinese title) process where they mix into the society.

OST shoutout - liked the ending song, grew on me by the end.
