Guys the app video voice translator (not actually for voice, it just trabslates the subtitles on screen lmao) works kinda ok as an eng sub, def better today that yesterday for some reason. If you download it and go on iyf.tv, you should be able to understand a decent portion of the series (i assume reckless man is the hardest subtitile wise since it is based around a type of comedy entrenched in chinese culture, so there are a few thibgs that wont make as much sense to westerners due to lack of context (especially with the states of these tts subs lmao) but you should be able to get the gist of it

The donghua came first im pretty sure. Its an anime original basically. Theres a spin off manhwa but thats its own seperate side story thibg. The anime is cannin, the drama isnt - the story is changed in the drama so its more like an au

They definitely dragged out the story a bit. I still enjoyed myself but i had to take a break after episode 13 because it was taking so long and it felt like it was going nowhere TT. I went back after a few days though and it was really dun, so ig not binging it is really key here. Me personally, i feel like ep 13 shouldve been cut except for a few select plot points, but thats just me. I really liked the whole train timer thing but it felt like after all that, they couldn't really accomplish much with it at all so it was a bit of a waste.
If it helps, ep 13 is by far the worst episode imo (it drags alot so you could skip it and still understand 99% of the story, nothing would really change) and nothing trabsphobic ever comes up after that. Im on episode 15 now and its really picking up again
