yes, the novel writes about that too. I think it is meant to give out hints that ZSC is from a powerful family; and also to show us Wang Man (the female tailor) since she is related to the evil brother of ZSC

In her original novel, the 2 friends were not mentioned much. And they made some changes to the ML's family background. There is no youngest aunt (or her husband, or her daughter), ML was living with just his grandpa and an old couple that is the family's helper. He grew up without parents, he chose to become dentist because it allows him to work 8 to 5 so he can be home with his grandpa,.... I like the novel a lot, re-read it several times coz it is about 2 lonely people that have scars from their childhood, getting to know each other and fall in love. FL was not childish / immature like the drama portrays her too. FL, in the novel, was timid and she knows who ML is way before she became his patient.
