So far what I've watched the ML hasn't be truly honest with her, he concealed, told white lies, and had to tell the truth after he took tome beating to atone for his mistakes. FL doesn't truly trust ML, because she's always wondering the extent of his lies, but she doens't have any backer she can rely one, she makes the best use of what she 's got at hand.
