I'm currently reading the novel and translating it into my native language (not English), and it's amazing! It's written really good, with soft humor and very balanced mix of funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking moments, case solving is engaging, MC is a really loveble character and the others are very memorable too. There's a lot of classical poetry and allusions to chinese classics, and wordplay (which is really tricky to translate), and Teng Ping (the author) makes a lot of fun (but she does it with love!) on wuxia tropes.
