Albeit it may seem extreme, CN culture values history and patriotism - ZZH attended a Japanese wedding with a friend who is pro-Japan in politics and visited a shrine publicly known as a disrespectful monument for CN victims in WW2 (Not even CN, countries involved with Japan's invasion and massacre/rape of their people).
Adding the fact that CCP is sensitive with anti-nationalist actions, the spotlight turns to ZZH. And due to CCP's control in CN, most if not everyone is forced to follow suit and separate ZZH from their brand/image.
