I give 9 I honestly confused with bad comment here lol every year there is only 1-2 C-dramas that i finish till the end, and this is one of them. The drama is so enjoyable and the cast are fantastic with their role. Alot of C-dramas are so interesting in the beginning and then i just get bored and feel draggy. This drama has overall good comedy, romance, background mistery, scheme and ofcourse royals, so its keep me going. The only negative is that the FL used to be so strong, carefree and independent (i really love her) become weak and dependent mid drama after inlove with ML, so i find her annoying, But most dramas are like that after they "fallen inlove" aka they went gaga lmao so I wont fault her too much, l subtract 5point for that and another 5pt the second ML deserves better (at the same time the ending make his character have more impact).
You can dislike her character but i completely disagree with you with acting part. I can only think 1 c-actress (aka Sun li) that can make the character as believeable as Wenqi. But their disavatage is Sunli would look too old for the role, and wenqi indeed looks too young. But her acting is very natural and believable that i really think that she is a real person, esp with the plot and character backgrounds are so real and down to earth (when i watch a drama, i always know they are just a character). Its helpful she doesn't over-react here, she put extra emotion when only is necessary (i seen clips of her movies where she acts completely opposite, one where she act as evil character, how her deliver her lines and expression is insane. She knows how much expression,tone should be deliver for her characters. Thats why, she has won and nominate in so many acclaiming awards). About her mother I feel opposite for her mother, she literally scream every lines and that become so dramatic, so I cant help but think "oh indeed this is a drama character". We feel for her as uneducated single mother trying to survive in extreme judgemental society, so we understand why her personality is like that(she is indeed strong and optimistic). But the impact is reduced when she just scream throughout the show esp in normal non-issue things (i was like why u even screaming here lol), and also her dont care shit attitude at workforce give opposite impression of her as uneducates single mother that desperate to survive and raised child.
Please please I wait for another collab from them since Eagles and Youngster in 2018. Hopefully there will be some kiss scene this time as both are an adult now. And I want them became a popular shipping couple after that hehe

Its not about the age gap but how young the male lead is. Kuanlin is 19 while filming this while she is 32 (this is literally a Milf and even the plot sound like one too Lmao with her character known him since he was still a kid). You cant compare with 32 yrs old starring with 50yrs old man. There are other dramas like My Treasure when teen actress starring with a man 20yrs older, and comment flood with age issue too (and that drama barely has romance, just hint ). In that drama, only at the end of series with confession and hand touching while this drama has kiss scene (i see on twitter). I only give My Treasure a shot becuz the romance is not the focus (and i really like the actress, if not, I will skipped the series too). So i can tell there aint discrimination between 2 scenario. Its not about age gap but how young the leads are to act romantically with someone in their 30's. Its normal to feel uncomfortable.
