And in the novel, he also invested in Dell when it was very small. I am sure there are many more companies they are investing in but the show doesn't need to show all the investments (as we already know the direction Do Jun is moving with the few investments they have shown)

I think YWY is made to be the ultimate bad guy so that HC doesn't end up to be so dark he is undeserving. But…
IMO HC is undeserving to end up on the thrown as in the novel. He may not be evil himself as YWY, but there are only two possibilities, either he is aware of YWY's true nature or simply being played for a fool by him. If he is aware, he is too evil to become the emperor to rule over all the six kingdoms, if he is not well we do not need another fool to rule over the kingdoms.
