i'm surprised that no one that's been replying you mention it but the first major reason it's so popular is bcs the two leads are idols from two separate Johnny's groups which have large fanbase, second these idols are playing couple in a bl drama. there

the hashimoto slap scene is definitely the highlight of ep 4, from the camera angles, the editing, akkun's facial expressions to hashimoto's slapping pose they're all so well done without being so over the top 🤣🤣🤣, really does reminds me of some great comedic shot in the good ol hanakimi 😆. and the scene where hashimoto touched akkun's cheek after slapping him, GOD that is so CUTE, akkun turned into a giant puppy in the mercy of smol gentlewoman hashimoto 😂🥺💕

i'm actually kinda expecting that they'd butcher alot of akkun & hashimoto/akkun moments (which already not that many in the manga lol) and focuses more on ida aoki since the actors are both johnnys and the company is co-producing this so yeah that's how this industry works right. but but seeing how non-manga readers already crossing out akkun from the groups like wishing there should be a poly relationship btwn ida, aoki & hashimoto etc, and there's a gifset of ep3 that i saw on tumblr that have all 3 of them including the dog but no akkun lmao oh my god its both so funny and sad 🤣😂😭 (yes i'm a drama akkun fan first, and the rest second ;> he's too nonchalant in the manga and it's easy to be annoyed at him but the drama version is just too adorable you can't get mad at him 😭) - nothing spoilery here but i'm gonna tick this as spoiler just bcs XD

oh boy my idiot son akkun...same tho, i'm glad the hate for him is toned down lmaooo, but if they really just skip or change that part entirely i'm also gonna be sooo disappointed. like it's important to both his and aoki's relationship/characters. tbh when watching it i thought that part is supposed to be in later part bcs it's been awhile since i read the manga that i forgot, until i saw someone else mentioned abt it.

honestly one of the very few young japanese actress that i really like? she doesn't have this typical cutesy and polite vibe to her like the others which is also the reason why she never became the IT girl in japan ent which is sad...she also kinda disappears under the radar after some time, hope she can bounced back. also y'all did her dirty with her profile pic here :|

idk maybe bcs i first watched him as uenoyama in given, but i think he really does have the look and build that is very suitable for tsundere-ish character. y'know that arrogant/displeased face that he has whenever he's not smiling (or his modelling face) is very...something. he definitely caught my attention now and hope to see more of him and his growth!

i picked this up since i know the manga & i looove the production team prev work which is pornographer the series and i'm glad i did! i instantly fell in love with the usual fast paced, dark and edgy tone this drama has that is so uniquely japanese that you won't find in other countries' series. for a manga adaptation (no i won't talk abt the anime), it was well done with a lot of attention to the camera works, the osts etc, but of course it still suffers butchering some plots and characterization given its limited screen time and the finale seems incomplete (that could also be that they're planning for season 2? who knows). i especially like how well they humanized uenoyama's character, making him this very awkward, kinda unstable and intense teenager who experienced new things in his life (mafuyu, his sexuality etc) in short period of time. for someone like him, it can be too overwhelming and we can see how bad it affected him like in episode 3 (and his actor was good at that; suzuki jin has my heart now). the rest of the casts did well with what they had, although i do think mafuyu's actor is a lil inconsistent with his performance at times. anyway, if you're not familiar with japanese production/acting style, or you're someone who keeps on comparing the drama with anime every 2 seconds, you are most probably won't enjoy this, which is too bad i guess. i think i'm gonna reread the manga again, but you best bet i won't watch the anime since anime-only fans pissed me off so much lmao.
