Title Bump Up Business
It's actually a bit deeper than that. They show open support toward queer fans and other queer artists, and they…
I know, but that's the thing people often wrongly assume, that there is something they are gaining from it - fame, money, exposure - that they wouldn't get without resorting to potraying gay relationships. Meanwhile, all evidence points to the contrary. Their most viewed MVs all came before they started incorporating queer themes in an overt way (although lyrically savanna and sage are definitely very queer songs). Their views never broke 10M again after that, but they never backed down from talking about gay experiences, even though it hasn't brought them respect or popularity among the Korean audience. The libidO choreography got popular because it was controversial how boldly they potrayed the theme of the song, but they never tried to capitalize on that by riding the hype wave and making something even more outrageous next time. The possibility that all of the members and their entire creative team are straight is frankly very low, but even if that's the case, there is plenty good queer art that was created by straight people and opened the doors for queer creators to convey their own experiences. It's important for queer people to create queer art, but if the art itself is honest and impactful, nobody needs to come out in order to make it so. Sorry if this comes across like I'm trying to argue, I agree with you on everything but I'm also really passionate about this group, and I've seen way too many people downplay how revolutionary and simultaneously painfully overlooked they really are. Currently they're in a position where even if they are queer, they can't come out, so hypothesizing the validity of their art based on that isn't very fair to the members. If you haven't read the lyrics to begin by Yoojung I highly recommend you do, because it's one of the most relatable and comforting songs a queer person could ever hear, and it's clear it came from a place of love and understanding toward the queer experience.
