this is a rare case of actually appropriate age gap (imo) where theyre both fully grown adults with no particular power inbalance. usually in dramas age gaps can be uncomfortable (for me it’s especially when the other person doesnt even have a fully developed frontal lobe💀) but i feel like there’s nothing innapropriate happening here just two over 30yo dudes who met through work.

the plot is fire but bas and fuaiz are ruining the series for me. taking into account how long it takes to film and edit a series, fuaiz wouldve been freshly 18 when filming (if even that) which on its own is pretty icky but to pair him with a 27? wow… people are talking about ”he’s 18, he’s legal it doesn’t matter” have any of you seen the kind of comments he gets on social media? people are being weird and predatory to a guy who’s barely an adult. I bet he is still in high school as well. it’s not good for his mental health and i think it’s really irresponsible to cast him for this part. he’s young and at a voulnerable age (for someone in the entertainment industry) they should look after him better.

This drama was funny at first but now I’m on episode 10 and I start to get annoyed by how easily On Woo Joo gives up on things for the sake of others. Like at this point it’s not really selflesness at all you just wanna avoid conflict completely. There are people willing to fight with you and for you why are you just letting the boss walk all over you? Everyone wanted her on the writers team why did she just immediately leave? No wonder Ha Young is way more succesful bc where’s Woo Joo’s ambition?

The scenes didnt make the story go forward at all because both moo and kang already like each other at this point so idk how shone would squeeze himself between them if they happen to make him ”the other guy”. Also it would not fit the story at all.

I’m sorry but what is Book’s characters point in this series lmao? like why is he here? why did the writers make him like kang? what did we achieve with that? Like when that plotline was introduced i thought they would milk it at least a little but the ”conflict” was resolved in like five seconds and all the scenes of shone liking kang were just basically filler. maybe its too early to speak on this but i dont think it’s likely that they make shone some type of antagonist either. but then if they dont unpack this at all what was the pointtttt???

idk i would say it starts out fun but as it goes on i feel like you can’t really make sense of the character’s motivations and stuff happens just because. it’s messy but not really dramatic if that’s what you’re looking for

Like what does he mean he can give up everything for ah jung? wasn’t his whole charcter built up on desperately wanting the company and the approval of his grandpa??? Sexual/romantic relationship with an adoptive sibling is still incest even if they don't have a sibling relationship. Imagine if an adoptive father started dating his adoptive daughter, it's the same thing with adoptive siblings, they don't share blood but it would be weird. Like there are step-siblings who don't share parents but it would be weird if they started dating. Also as I said in my other comment if their specific situation happened in real life I wouldn't weird me out nearly as much as the guys in addicted being adoptive siblings, because that added nothing to the actual plot and is only intended for the incest fetishisers.

Yes, the exact reason 'Addicted' writer used this trope is because for regular people who consume lot of different types of media, it's weird to use incest as a plot devise as it is immoral, but for a specific group within the BL community, incest seems to be something to be fetishised. It's "a forbidden fruit", that's why it's so appealing to a lot of people. In more conservative countries even writing about gay people is considered taboo so many probably think, that 'if were already writing about something taboo, why not go all out?' I think it happens a lot less in gls and wlw media because most of the media is made by lesbians, about lesbians and for lesbians (or wlw overall) but bls and a lot of east asian mlm media is written by straight women about gay men for straight women, so the starting point is very different and the end result is usually not be the greatest representation.

Yeah if it happened to someone in real life it wouldn't feel so weird to me but what's rubbing me to wrong way in Addicted, is that it was the original author's conscious decision to make them siblings. It didn't have much to do with the actual plot and there's so many different not-so-weird ways of creating same kind of drama within their families. Like for example in the drama Luo Yin found out they were siblings, was mad for like five minutes and then their relationship continues as normal. There was literally no point to it, so it made me question why make them siblings in the first place?

This is sm better than the original! I would go as far as saying that the censorship (in this particular drama) is helping with the story because now I don't have to suffer through all the weird romanticization of SA and incest
