I'm slightly confused and would just like to no why I'm hearing chinese with chinese actors but it's filmed in…
It's a fictional city that the drama created every detail. The spoken and written language, currency, police station, uniforms, etc. It's its own world. Part of that may be to pass censorship because of the bold cases. It's real but can't be too real for the audience.
The Chinese title is "Snow Maze" and it fits the plot perfectly. But English translations have always been less…
I held off on watching the closing title till the end also. I was afraid of being spoiled. It really did feel like being on an acid trip. 😅 I like your interpretation.
There are lots of cool details like how Gu Yi Ran's chemistry experiments were actually done correctly and all the props were designed to enhance the story and give clues to the plot and underlying intentions. Lots of callbacks and symmetry. Awesome show.
I hope so. I miss this gang. It would be difficult though but Huang Jing Yu's Chasing the Undercurrent is getting a 2nd season, so perhaps we can be optimistic here too.
Great drama, it gets better in the second half, but for the life of me, how did this level of violence pass the…
I an interview, he said that was his most challenging part. He asked for forgiveness for not speaking it to standard. A year later, he was able to recall the Cantonese lines. It was enough to pass non-Catonese speakers, but I can see how it is jarring if I knew the language.
After reading some comments on the names picked for the meth and the drama title... Besides a very low possibility…
I like "Snow Angel" as the name for meth because Jiang Xiao Hai pretended to be an angel. This angel kills, just like meth. Lele was lost in the snow and became this monster. Meth is white, looking pure like snow. All these characteristics are false pretenses. Name is more insidious as "Snow Angel" .
Drama title is "Snow Maze" which is also apt because each character is lost/broken and trying to find a way out. At the beginning, Gu Yi Ran, who had never seen snow, asked Zheng Bei if it was beautiful. It's muddy, but then it clears. The opening title sequence and story fits this theme. The snow clears, sky brightens, they get out of the maze.
surprisingly very good show that sadly, isnt popular because no idols
The episode release was too slow. Only 1 a day with no calendar. Plus, the promotion kept spoiling the big scenes. How to keep the suspense in a suspense drama. 🙄 The drama did well, the "CP" is currently the 2nd most popular Weibo Super topic, but it could have been so much better if the platform actually seemed to care.
No need for idols because all the acting was top notch. The cast is phenomenal. Zheng Bei's parents, Uncle Tie Gang, Guo Zhu's dad, the bad guys, are all played by nationally renown actors. They are supporting to a talented group of younger actors that are chosen to fit their roles. This production emphasized quality instead popularity.
I think if we look back a few years from now, we will marvel how they got this crew together.
How I figure it.... JXH was kidnapped by drug traffickers, caught again after Zheng Bei "left" him, sold to JZY's…
It was Monkey's nephew. The one that came up from a rural area to make money to buy his mom a washing machine. JXH taught him to drive and found that he was foolish enough to write down the secrets. Later while making a drug hand off, he died and Monkey burned the ID card.
Is Xiao Ma Ge!!! Wah Xiao Hai is deep, so he was the one that got his sister involved.
All the original posters were black and white. It was cool that they even had posters for the director, producers, writers and many of the behind the scenes staff. I saw an interview somewhere that listed all their experience, it is a very talented and professional crew.
MDL is hard to update things sometimes. I don't know if I will get to it. I don't hold my breath for Douban scores. Never know how audiences receive a drama.

Proud smiles from Zheng Bei and Gu Yi Ran.
"I don't want you to leave." "Professor Gu isn't going to leave" 🥰
I love this team.

I think this is the actress that played Bai Ling (Han Yun Yun) instead of JYZ.
