The script for this drama has always been planned for a 20 something episode, studios tend to file for a higher count of episode as safety net during the review period of the drama. What his mom tore were Qi Le's Letter to him over the years hence he wasn't able to send his letters back to Qi Le fearing his mom would react again that's why we see him holding a bunch of letters in the present time.
I'm halfway through episode 1 and I had to pause real quick, WTF is up with his parents. 20 minutes of episode 1 alone and I'm already getting worked up with the parents, the mom hasn't even showed up. The parents had him in order to help their marriage but he's being neglected emotionally by both, the dad doesn't even know the meaning of his name nor his birthday.
This seems so shallow but why was the kissing scene so short when they shot the scene for like hours?!! also I just wanna have a talk with the director and the writer because what in the shenanigans is happening with the angle and some of the story line
I'm excited that SOKP is finally out but seeing BL weibo post, I wonder how the promotion will work since of both of her drama are airing at the same time

I'm currently on episode 3 and let me tell you, the time I spent waiting for this drama to come out is super worth it ( I reread the novel almost every month since I heard the news that a live adaptation was in the works). I'm currently liking the changes that they did with the drama. The leads chemistry is on fire as well but what I'm really loving with this drama is that they were able to adapt the embarrassing moments from the novel really good, I'm cringing (in a good way) even more watching bai lu act out the scenes from the novel. I was initially worried with how the funny scenes from the novel would come out but the actors were able to act it out in a really good and funny way.
As an avid fan of the novel the worries that I have with the fl being hated/misunderstood by the watchers is finally starting to appear. Many may see the fl as a weakling and has no spine etc, but as someone who read the novel multiple times I'm more surprised that she didn't do anything to harm her life after their breakup. Xu Qin the fl, has been condition by her adoptive mother to be what she is now, she literally cant talk back to her and follows everthing that her mother wants. The adoptive mother is so cruel to the point that she actually jeopardize Song Yan's career during his time in the military. I know that both their sufferings will be shown on the future episodes, it's a 40 episode drama afterall you cant expect that the problems and the attitude of the fl will be cleared in just 10 episodes (she has a lot of trauma). On another point, I'm actually liking how the the drama is closely following the novel but still adding new aspects to it. Hopefully the drama will also show more of their high school scenes (they really skip a lot of it)
I just also want to add that it is fine for the non novel readers if you find fl weak or spineless as long as you understood that there are reason's for it, you don't really need to read the novel to know that the fl is depressed since the drama is already showing some sneak peek to xu qin's trauma. The problem that I have with the comment section is how some people are leaving insults towards the fl without even understanding where she's coming from. If xu qin was a male y'all would probably pity her.
The side characters are so annoying and ridiculously dumb and selfish that every time they appear on the screen I badly want to feed them to the infected people especially that vlogger. So far I'm loving the plot and the way that the side characters are portrayed really reminded me of people I know in real life.
