But you know that series like these one are made to be a guilty pleasure, no one is gonna take them seriously, just that many girls likes to fantasize about straight guys falling in love with their gay friends. No body is harmed as long as we know that this is just a one-dimensional world, and that queer people have real problems in every society (I know what I'm talking about, I live in Poland). You know, it's like watching a movie about murders, and kill someone in reality. It makes difference, right?!
What's more, there are things that have no potential to become someone's guilty pleasure, and every story about it should be true and serious, like mental illnesses. I would like to stop explain to people that being schizophrenic doesn't mean I would pass the streets armed with knife. And it's even worse, because everyone can start to have problems with mental health, but most of them doesn't even know it's symptoms and think they would need an exorcist.
By the way, I know a guy, and this is a story of my old classmate, who was straight and had a few girlfriends (he only looked at girls sexually), but then he said that he fell in love with a guy. This ending was very disappointing, it felt cut in the worst moment and there was nothing explained at the end. I wish I could see reactions of everyone at Hagi's clan when their Wakagimi came back and if Ako has married his older brother. The movie was good, but the ending was too rushed.

Yes, apart from "History: Make Our Days Count" (the story there ends bad, because they didn't film a novel till the end), well I am watching happy ends only, so this is the only part of "HIStory" series I haven't watched.

I think you should start with something light and mild, when it comes to BL terms. I would recommend you Thai "Bad Buddy" (on Youtube) or Korean "Light on Me" (on Viki). Of course, you can go straight for genre classics like "TharnType" (Viki), "Sotus" (Youtube) or dramas from "HIStory" series (on Viki), maybe some japanese dramas too, especially these based on yaoi mangas. Someone here said that "Not me" is best to start, but I personally think is too dark for beginners... but, well if you like action and crime genre than maybe "Not me" or "Manner of death" are just for you.
