Well, the thing is I do imagine, because the manga really hit me, especially when I first read it. The weirdest thing is when Kirino had a talk with her mother after come back from trip with Mishima, my first impresion was "everything's gonna be alright, because her mother understood something and slowly will accept who Kirino really is". I was kind of surprised when we get to know she married a woman, has a daughter and a pregnant wife. It looked like her's mothers smile is enough for her. I don't know if you have read the manga, so I am just describing my own feelings. And as for Yanagida... That's why we see his eyes at the end, he doesn't want to hurt anyone, to grow a monster inside himself like Yanagida did. Because Yanagida was forced against his will and Kirino chose this. And this is the saddest part, the truth is that he could choose to be herself, I think that even his mother would just let it pass after some time. Unfortunately, he was raised differently, so he decided to repay his mother's suffering that way. In manga this is very well portrated with a drawnings of Yanagida's soul.
