This is quite simply the best show I've seen in a long time. No tropes. No drama. Just realistic characters, thoughtful writing, and gorgeous cinematography. It's a show that wants you to sit with it. And if you do, it can show you who you are.
Does Viki update their English subs? I just re-watched the confession scene from ep. 31 and I'm pretty sure the translation was different than it used to be.
IT'S SO GOOD!!!!! How did I find it accidentally? And it's just what I needed. My soul felt happy watching this.…
+1 Hi Venus Forever and Ever (esp. if you've seen One and Only) You are My Glory You are My Hero Love Scenery Forever Love (school drama) Time and Him are Just Right (school drama)
What all of the above have in common is a super healthy relationship between the main characters, minimal angst/melodrama, and an overall positive vibe.
If you're open to J-dramas with a bit more skinship, then I also highly recommend Shanai Marriage Honey.
His character development in this drama is really great. Both the writing and the acting have been really impressive…
When you're looking for signs that a drama is next-level, look at the supporting characters: are they all one-dimensional foils for the mains, or are they fully fleshed out, three-dimensional humans with their own unique personalities, cares, and concerns?
It was XiaXia's turn to shine in ep 34. What a dialogue. "Don't leave with regrets, If you want to leave then…
His character development in this drama is really great. Both the writing and the acting have been really impressive - especially for a "side" character!
I didn't hate this, but I wanted to like it more than I did. I think my problem was that all of the antagonists were totally over the top. I get the idea of intentional over-acting, but it this case it just felt off.
So I am seeing a lot of hate on the character "Naksu" because people wanted a spicier ending for her character…
I totally agree.
The last time Naksu "used her powers" was when Jin Mu made her go crazy, kill a bunch of people, attack her one true love, and force him to kill her. As viewers, we might think it's cool and satisfying to watch her "get her powers back" and use them against Jin Mu, but from her perspective that would just confirm that she "really" is the person he made her to be.
So I like this ending much better: Naksu is still super powerful, but in a way completely different from the power she received from Jin Mu. She can stand shoulder to shoulder with her husband, but on her own terms and not in a way that requires her to relive or validate her past manipulation. AND it fits perfectly with the light/shadow shift from P1 to P2.
So, I just watched episode 5 after reading a bunch of the comments on here, and I have to say: I was pleasantly surprised. The way everyone was talking, I was expecting Jang Uk to be a total jerk to Bu Yeon. But he really wasn't. He got understandably flustered/frustrated/angry when she used a Naksu memory - and he did overreact - but he wasn't nearly as bad as most cold male leads in asian dramas. And he immediately did the right thing when he found out about the misunderstanding.
There's no question that poor Bu Yeon is totally innocent and getting the raw part of the deal right now. But this episode actually seemed to me like solid and reasonable character/relationship progression.
Why ratings are pouring in? It's just in it's first half and all are rating it quickly. Don't you guys think you…
I can only speak for myself, but I update my rating as I watch. So it's not as if I'm already saying ahead of time that this show will be, e.g., a 9. I'm just saying that as of episode 18, its a 9.
These six are great. Some others with healthy mains would be: (1) Forever and Ever (and One and Only) (2) Love Scenery (3) Since I Met U (4) You are My Glory (5) The Oath of Love (6) To Fly with You (7) Love the Way You Are (8) Don't Mess with EX-Girlfriend
Also, two unfinished dramas that have been surprisingly good on the healthy-mains' relationship front, at least so far, are: (1) New Life Begins (2) She and Her Perfect Husband
Does anyone have recommendations for other dramas with similar ML/FL dynamics?
In addition to having great chemistry (which they did), I really loved how they problem solved together, had one another's backs, communicated well, etc.
Forever and Ever (esp. if you've seen One and Only)
You are My Glory
You are My Hero
Love Scenery
Forever Love (school drama)
Time and Him are Just Right (school drama)
