i've never read the book, idk what happened in the book. but from the drama, XXF wants power and control over the cour (which is he already has) and military, that's why he using HRF to plan all of this scheme without actually be in the plan. when they killed ML's dad and took their power, HRF can take over FL's power. XXF kinda brainwashed HRF. it makes sense.

sometimes u need to move on with ur life, even though u still have feelings for another person, if u found someone right why not married and have a family? about the divorce, shen cheng explain it's bcs she didn't want to move to another country, this is also valid reason to have a divorce since she's independent.
shen cheng is her biological child, that's why he doesn't exist in the "new life" of ye haitang.
