Here, he meets Tan Xiao, a youth from the City Village* with a talent for painting, but who has been held back by the burdens of his family. Both youths, who start out at loggerheads with each other, gradually warm up, become close and through mutual salvation, develop an enduring bond.
> *City Village is a direct translation - it literally refers to a village within a city, "created" when farmers who lost their land to city development decided to stay behind in their original houses. It's an area within a big city that is underdeveloped and residents are typically socioeconomically disadvantaged. Similar feel to the "Inner City" in the US.
Some notes about the characters:
Qi Lu - 18 years old. The "painting prodigy" from a priviledged background. Due to his father's abusive and controlling nature, he has developed a cold personality, though he appears warm and gentle on the outside. In relationships, he tends to be one who appears to "lead on" the other.
Tan Xiao - 20 years old. The small "overlord" of the City Village. Gifted with a talent for painting, he grew up improverished, and was forced to take on family responsibilities from a young age. As a result, he is more mature than his peers, but is hesistant when it comes to emotional ties due to his tendency to worry and overthink.
The 2nd couple in the show, briefly, is between the 27 year old owner of the studio, who lost his younger brother in an accident, and the 18 year old deaf-mute runaway staying at Tan Xiao's house, who looks similar to the owner's younger brother.
According to the show's "official" weibo (they're being very quite for obvious reasons, so the account is unverified), the show is a "proper" BL, not a bromance. Original story, 12 ep, 20mins each, currently in post-production. Release date unknown.
