The scene where she was in the hospital of the accident was essentially the same child actress, so she was young but still old to know who her uncle is. An uncle is still an important figure in her life. I find it odd, especially since the uncle told his romantic interest she can't be the neice's "mother".

I am enjoying the drama (ep1 -2). But the MDL rarings for episodes 3 to 5 has been really low. Its in the 7s and 6s. This is the lowest I've seen for any kdrama I've watched.
