The manhua/donghua is actually modern life with glimpses and story of the past lives. Its just this drama just focuses on past life storyline only but i guess they decided to add in modern parts for closure. Otherwise the modern part of this yuehong part in the manhua is too heart breaking (ML re-incarnation falls for another person who is not fl) and its still ongoing up to now. The script writer obviously changed the storyline though. Its not going to be exactly as manhua. I feel like the modern part will be a little bonus for yuehong cp fans.
