I’m not sure why you would call your boyfriend by his last name. At first, I thought it’s a cultural thing,…
It's a Japanese thing, luv. In Japan, people don't get to call others by their given name, only by family name. The ones who can call them by given names can only be family members or their lovers (if you don't comply to this rule, you will be judged as presumptuous and rude). Therefore, being called by the given names by their special ones makes people like they've established a very close and bonded relationship (which is necessary for being a life partner).
On the contrary (for just the 2nd paragraph of your review), I think the 2 main characters are really well-planned and profound. Actually, from what I've seen and felt, I think Mon was going through mild-severe depression, if you noticed this, it would all make better sense. Mon refused almost everything offered to him at beginning of the series, he doesn't quite want to do anything and avoided as much social contact as possible. Also, he rarely spoke long sentences, nor did he spoke out his mind. He was aggressive and bitter towards almost everything. So...I don't think he was a blunt character, he had depression. How do I know ? I'm living with depression, right now, with maintainance medication. The Soh character was made to be blunt, chill, silly and caring. So that explains his interactions with Mon. Hope you could look at the series from a different angle. However...you may have a different view from mine. ❤️
Thanks for answering, tho. ❤️
