There are many pretty women who are not actresses and I know women who attract men like bees to a flower
Bad lighting was one of the first criticisms thrown at Only For Love, a flaw that more than 80% of cdramas I watched have. Yet, haters made it sound like only OFL has this flaw 𤬠Being slow or draggy is one of the flaws I notice about cdramas, but curiously, it didn't bother me in OFL.
He had an ex-girlfriend though I'm not sure how long they stayed together, but most probably more than a year…
Exactly. But even if he was not rich, I can understand an actress falling for his looks and charms. Remember "Notting Hill" and in real life, there are actresses who are married to "regular blokes".

There are many possible reasons for why she ended up with a loser like Xing Zhou. For one thing, she didn't have a good EQ. Her admirers probably caught on to that and got turned off, except for the loser. Or perhaps, she didn't have any inclination to having a boyfriend, another thing that might have discouraged her other admirers. Or perhaps she treated them like friends like how she treated Yu You and Yi Yang. Or perhaps they got intimidated by her accomplishments, thinking she's out of their league, so they just admire at a distance. Or perhaps she just accepted Xing Zhou's suit so her mom would stop pestering her about having no boyfriend. Or perhaps she was not that attractive when she was younger and bloomed when she started working. So many possible reasons when one is not eager to find fault. Regarding people gushing at her beauty, I had actually wondered about this when I started watching Asian dramas where characters are openly praised for their beauty. And in social media, praises such as pretty, beautiful, gorgeous, handsome, etc are heaped on celebrities like crazy (check posts on Dylan Wang on Twitter and you'll encounter "handsome" in almost every post, sometimes several times in a post), so I reckoned it's part of certain cultures. Regarding whether Bai Lu is that pretty to be praised like that in the drama, it's subjective. Some people would think she is, others wouldn't. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What matters is that people find Shu Yi pretty in the drama. I just watched a drama about Empress Elisabeth of Austria who was supposed to be so beautiful that the king fell madly in love with her during their first meeting. Alas, the actress, for me, was not that pretty. But it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the drama. You can use your imagination when senses fail you. That is, unless you are eager to find fault then it's your loss if you let such a trivial matter spoil your fun.
Well said and well-rounded, effectively capturing the whole essense of the drama particularly its "thoughtful and visually appealing portrayal of love in a contemporary Chinese setting."
I agree wholeheartedly, your comment should be pinned. I would like to repeat some of it:"Isn't a review supposed…
That is so true! I've just been watching Youtube videos about "ugliest cdrama actors" and "actors who cannot act" and swore I'm not going to YT again! How has the world become so vile? Social media is supposed to connect people together. Instead, it has become a cesspool of negativity where people can be as mean as they want to be and slander anybody and anything š¤¬
This list doesn't tell anyone to be negative. This is about everyone's personal choices, so not everyone will…
I see there will be no end to this discussion. When one has gotten used to a world of negativity he won't see his negative world as it is. Don't worry, it's not just you. I've just been in Youtube watching videos of "Ugliest cdrama actors" and "Actors who can't act" and swore I won't visit YT anymore. But it appears negativity has pervaded every corner of the web.

oh dear, negativity has really ruled the internet that netizens canāt anymore tell when they see it. The title itself is negative. Another way to tell that a list is negative is when you donāt want your favorite to be in it

Gosh (blush, blush), thanks too š I totally agree with your note about how the internet fosters meanness. Cyber-bullying does not just apply to people; to dramas too, and anything actually. You're so right about the bandwagon effect. That's what the yxh and water armies (netizens paid to defame celebs and dramas) aim to happen. They just need to plant the seed of doubt in people's minds and the tendency of the internet to cyber-bully the target takes over š¤¬
A drama rarely, if ever, caters to everyone's taste. So if it happens that a drama is not your type, drop it and…

"Isn't a review supposed to help others understand the drama better?"
"Reviews of those who didn't watch the drama fully, that is, those who skipped scenes or didn't complete it, are simply misleading"
"This drama is mainly about a 25-year-old reporter for a finance magazine and a 27-year-old CEO of a venture capital company. Expecting a drama with these descriptions of leads to be all about sweet-nothings and not have business talks is unreasonable"
"If you don't want a substantial drama with business talks, give this a pass and spare other viewers misleading reviews"
Another drama comes up when you search for "Only For Love" in Netflix US š¤Øhttps://twitter.com/aicunzainureyes/status/1753920586991247385
It used to be that when you search for a drama that is scheduled for release in a few days, it will be displayed as Coming Soon or something like that. But yeah, I'll try to search again on the 6th.
When she was staying at his house after a shower, she had to call him Daddy because she needed his help with her…
She said "Papa" twice. First, "If I change my mind, I will call you Dad". And the second time when she changed her mind.
The ruckus this Papa-calling created is another example of viewers making a mountain out of a mole hill. And taking things out of context. Due to her injured arm, Shi Yan was concerned about her ability to do things on her own and Shu Yi was miffed at being treated like a child or invalid. So, calling him Papa was a pun, in response to how he was treating her.
What I find most interesting is that people rated this harshly when itās on par with My Bossā¦
Only For Love has been targeted by so-called yxh - netizens who slander celebrities on social media. The discussion forum "Who still believes in Douban and other drama scoring sites" has more details about this. In summary, yxh accounts blackmail studios/producers into paying up or else their dramas will be blackened. Apparently, HunanTV/MangoTv didn't give in to blackmail thus their dramas like "Fireworks of my Heart" and "Only For Love" were defamed. Thus, they got low Douan scores.
In addition, there has been a study of known yxh accounts in Weibo and it was found out that Dylan Wang is the most targeted Chinese actor. Please see https://twitter.com/WangHediFolder/status/1744602329238958451. It begs the question: who is paying these yxh accounts to defame him? They're even doing that in other social media sites like Youtube too.
Unfortunately, many viewers tend to get swayed easily by what they read on social media which is the reason yxh and water armies are proliferating.
