did you see the clip at a press conference where he gave her a rabbit lantern?? I got teary!!!
Thank you! That is indeed a touching scene, a reference to PA. I wonder if the producers really mean for this drama to replace season 2 of PA since I've heard season 2 is unlikely to happen coz of the plagiarism case?

I haven't yet, can't find it in Twitter or Youtube. But just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. Do you have a link to the clip?

It would be hard to go through the 13k+ comments in this thread, so here's a compilation of suggestions for those who are considering watching this delightful rom-com gem:

- This is a character-driven drama. And the characters are NOT perfect. Their quirks, flaws, mistakes and growth drive the narrative. If you like perfect characters and scenarios, this is not for you.

- If you're not open to new experiences and value your expectations much more than the artistic decisions made by production teams over months or years of hard work, think twice about watching this as the characters and story are not likely to meet the expectations of viewers partial to cookie-cutter characters and scenarios

- If you think a drama with a financial magazine reporter as FL and a venture capital firm CEO as ML should not have business talks, this is not for you

- If you hate multi-dimensional characters and multi-layered misunderstandings, this is not for you

- If you haven't sensed the campy humor by the 8th episode, you'll probably not appeciate this fully

If, from above discussion points, this drama has been deemed not for you, please give this a pass and spare other viewers misleading reviews.

Idc much about mdl reviews coz many dramas I dislike are rated very high here (and vice versa) so I want to give…
Definitely worth it for me. The FL is brilliant at work but immature outside of it. Her multi-dimensional characterization is one of the most intriguing, if not misunderstood, aspects of the drama. She chased the ML for, arguably, two reasons (salvage a broken pride and to be able to interview the ML for her work project). The ML humored the FL's childish and awkward attempts to chase him for reasons that will be disclosed later on. But he ended up chasing her in the end.

Here is a good analysis of the FL from the point of view of the ML: https://kisskh.at/discussions/cuo-liao/121097-choosing-a-partner-like-a-venture-capitalist-with-shi-yan-long-analysis/

So glad that the sizzling chemistry between Princess Agents co-stars Zhao Liying and Lin Gengxin is still alive and kicking. They play fiesty and cool perfectly. The challenge match between Shen Li and Xing Zhi in ep 13 reminds me so much of a similar scene in PA with Chu Qiao/Xing Er and Yuwen Yue where I think the music Star and Moon was playing in the background.

My first Taiwanese drama and kinda hooked me on Roy Chiu. His playful performance is endearing. 'Love how the lovebirds stayed true to their relationship against all odds.

There is usually an episode that hooks me to a drama, when the resolve to watch it to the end kicks in. For Ten Miles of Peach Blossom, it was ep 10. For Love Between Fairy and Devil, ep 9. For Legend of Shenli, it was ep 7, when Xing Yun's true identity is revealed.

Seriously the best romantic comedy I've ever seen.
The best Chinese rom-com for me too. It seems fluffy at first but once the campy humor is discerned, the characters become multi-dimensional and the misunderstandings get multi-layered, the drama achieves an enjoyable charm I was surprised and delighted to see in a Chinese drama. Totally unexpectedly but delightfully, Shu Yi reminds some viewers of Scarlet O'Hara and Bridget Jones; Shi Yan is reminiscent of Mr. Darcy; and the humor and layered misunderstandings have touches of Oscar Wilde plays An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest. Add to this the titillating romantic element that cdramas have mastered and you have a rom-com gem.

I feel sorry for those who were eager to find fault or were swayed by negative comments about this drama. They missed a most delightful experience.

What is it about this drama that makes fault finders exaggerate its flaws, most of which are flaws that many cdramas…
Intent? Since proving intent online is as hard as it is easy to deny it, I'll not bother. But I'm sure those who alleged that there was "0 communication in 20 episodes" or "mistakes repeated 80 times" knew exactly what those reviews will do to readers - turn them off the drama.

Regarding hyperboles, how will people who have not watched the drama know that the statements are exaggerations? How would they know that there really weren't "0 communication in 20 episodes" or "mistakes repeated 80 times"? The very reason they are reading comments and reviews is to find out more about the drama before committing to it. This is why reviewers have the responsibility to give truthful reviews. By definition, negative hyperboles make something worse than they are and logically speaking, those who haven't watched the drama would not know they are exaggerations.

My statement about "4 repetitions" was to show how much less the number of actual repititions were to the alleged number of 80. Off the top of my head, I remember 3 times that ShanShan caught Guan Ji with another girl. I put 5 times in case I forgot some other scenes. But whether it is 3 or 5 or 10, it is still much much much less than 80. In addition, the scenes were not strictly repeated. They were different scenes, unlike flashbacks that are commonly used in cdramas, even kdramas, that repeat exactly the same scenes. And I don't mind those different (again not repeated) scenes where ShanShan caught Guan Ji with other women since they explain why she was hesitant about going steady with him. Anybody who is not eager to find fault would find this a reasonable way of justifying why she was mad at him being with other women after their intimate times together.

There are many comments/reviews in this thread pointing out that the characters in this drama are flawed, multi-dimensional. Viewers who want to watch perfect characters have been advised to give this a pass and spare other viewers misleading comments/reviews.

What is it about this drama that makes fault finders exaggerate its flaws, most of which are flaws that many cdramas…
The post about Douban is meant to tell you how much this drama was attacked by yxhs (netizens that have been paid to blacken it) using such tactics as exaggerating common flaws of cdramas as if these flaws apply only to OFL and inventing flaws such as "no plot".

Negative hyperbole is an attack. It makes the drama worse than it really is. If you were searching for a drama to watch and depending on reviews to guide your choice, would you be likely to watch it if its review says, "0 communication for 20 episodes" or "mistakes repeated 80 times"? I wouldn't.

There are many stories where mysteries are revealed at the last chapter. Why would the mystery of the niece/uncle relationship being revealed 10 episodes from the end make it so problematic? Other viewers didn't have a problem with it, as they were too engrossed in other delightful scenes in the drama.

This drama is character-driven. That is one of its differences. Those who were not limited by their expections and let the vision of the production team unfurl as the drama progressed, letting the multi-dimensional characters drive the multi-layered storyline, enjoyed the experience.

If we're going to be technical about it, there were probably not more than 5 times that ShanShan saw Guan Ji with another girl and at most 3 times that Shu Yi inappropriately brought up the e-magazine in conversations with Shi Yan. Thus, these "mistakes" if you prefer to call them that were repeated at most 4 times, way, way less than the 80 times mentioned.

What is a LIE? It is a false statement. Is it true that there were mistakes repeated 80 times? No. It's a LIE.

This comment section is interesting because people seem to have lost sight of a very important notion:โ€œIf you…
You have misunderstood our last discussion if you think that that Voltaire quote applies in this case. The phrase "WHAT YOU THINK is wrong" is subjective. A LIE that can be proven as a lie is objective. Does freedom of speech give people license to LIE? In fact, lying contributes to a toxic environment. Most especially, its prevalence degrades the quality of a site.

Reviewers have a responsibility to give TRUTHFUL reviews.

Weibo and Douban, which used to be giants in Chinese social media, have been infested with YXHs and water armies paid to blacken celebrities and dramas, causing the quality of the sites to deteriorate. As this chart shows, Weibo is now out of the top 10 apps in China, and Douban is now out of the top 30.

I'm against LIES that this drama has been subjected to relentlessly. For more information about this. see https://kisskh.at/discussions/cuo-liao/121285-who-still-believes-in-douban

The flaws that many cdramas have but have been hurled at this drama as if it's the only cdrama with these flaws include bright lighting, bad camera angles, dragginess and too many side couples.

Your comment "a character making the same mistake 80 times" happens to be another hyperbole, one type of attacks heaped on this drama.

I don't mind negative reviews if they are true. In fact, truthful negative reviews could help improve the quality of drama-making. My complaint is that blatant LIES have been spread about this drama. And let us not get bogged down by technical terms. Fine if you don't like the term "fake news", but that does not excuse hyperbole and white lies. They are still departures from the truth, that is, still LIES. Reviewers have the responsibility to be truthful. If you are looking for a drama to watch, would you watch one that has been reviewed as having "zero communication for 20 episodes"? Of course not! And the fact that such accusation is not true can be proven OBJECTIVELY.

It's ironic that you talk about ART relating to this drama because attackers of this drama has been lambasting it for not meeting THEIR expectations and THEIR perceived potential of the drama, totally diregarding the artistic decisions that shaped this drama - the campy sense of humor, character-driven plot, multi-dimensional characters, multi-layered misunderstandings, etc. These attackers just want a drama that panders to their expectations. Such a mentality that puts selfish desires above the vision of the production team would totally wipe out ART in drama-making since attackers only want cookie-cutter dramas or those that are "like this drama or that drama". What attackers are clamoring for would create the opposite of an environment that would foster art in drama-making. And because what they are clamoring for is unreasonable, they resort to LIES.

Are lie-infested comments and reviews truly being consciously accepted in this site? Isn't anybody worried about the quality of this site deteriorating? Who would come to this site for advice on which dramas to watch once it becomes widely known that its reviews are lie-infested, thus cannot be trusted?

Some lies can be proven as such unequivocably, that is, objectively, not subjectively. For example, there is a review that says there was zero communication or business talks that nobody cared about for 20 episodes. This is a blatant lie. There is no such 0 communication or business talk that went on for 20 episodes and many viewers do care about the business talks. There is already too much trash on social media, most of which we have no control over. Shouldn't every good netizen try to lessen such garbage when and where we can? Otherwise, are we just going to let fake news proliferate in this site?

i decided to watch this drama knowing that there were some negative comments since it was airing, but i felt like…
What is it about this drama that makes fault finders exaggerate its flaws, most of which are flaws that many cdramas have but are made to appear as if they afflict only this drama? An example of an exaggerated review that does apply only to this drama says there was 0 communication for 20 episodes! It's a blatant lie.

Now, where are the 80 times that the same mistake was made? Regarding misinterpretations, those who are not quick to find fault actually found the multi-layered misunderstandings exceedingly funny and brilliant.

Regarding the phone calls that everyone can hear, again, many who are not quick to find fault, especially those who got the campy humor, found those amusing.

Title Only for Love Spoiler
There are many swoon-worthy romantic moments in the drama. What's your favorite?
My most favorite romantic moment is their first face-to-face meeting, when Shu Yi pretended to borrow Shi Yan's power bank. The undercurrents were palpable. Imagine, Shi Yan was finally meeting the girl he has been interested in since he saw her 3 years ago and has been requesting her newspaper firm to send to interview him. She was finally in front of him but with some paltry and obviously fake reason of borrowing the power bank. He was trying to look disinterested but he must have passed on some of his heart's electric impulses to her; the look she gave him was love-stricken. Without realizing it, she developed a crush on him at first meeting - her eyes couldn't hide that fact. Meanwhile, Shi Yan must have been trying to process her less than endearing subterfuge. He knew, then, that she was not a typical sensible office girl; as Mr Chen noted, she was weird. I love it that he did not flirt back. He made it clear to her he was not to be trifled with. Aside from his reserved nature, he cares about her too much to flirt with her before they get to know each other better. That was some first meeting - the girl started crushing on the boy as soon as she saw him face to face, the boy who has been crushing on her for 3 years got a glimpse of her quirkiness. She may think she is pursuing him but he intends to woo her thus responds to her childish advances nonchalantly.

I find moments that are subdued and full of undercurrents like this more romantic than explicitly raunchy scenes which I place under the sexy category ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mine is when Shi Yan arranged the fortune sticks in Xiaguang Temple such that all the sticks carrying a fortune…
This is also one of my favorite romantic and funny moments! I like how clueless Shu Yi was, here, and indeed, it speaks of her lack of vanity that she didn't, for even a second, suspect that Shi Yan, who handed the container of sticks to her, had manipulated the contents ๐Ÿ˜‚
